"The GSMA will publish their survey findings that 3G notebooks are a huge opportunity - a total market that could be 70 Million units. Even bigger than Gartner or Intel think. Why? Well they did "face to face" surveys of 12,000 people yes I didn't get the zeros wrong. 12K people".
Was the subject of my post in Nov 2007
Revisiting after a year and a half, hows it going? Well bigger than anyone thought!
The Netbook phenomena is sweeping the world in these times of economic turmoil. It is turning out that this is an incremental or adjacent market to the notebook market.
So what? The challenge is finding the right value propositions for Telcos and end users. Bought for the wrong reasons (e.g. "I want a smaller notebook to do my video editing when travelling") the user will be dissatisfied. Sold to win new subscribers at lower cost but increases churn through mis-positioning could result in dissatisfied Service providers.
